Atterbury Consultants, Inc. has developed a seminar aimed at helping field foresters learn how to incorporate the latest technology into their work.  This seminar is designed to make industry professionals more efficient by saving time in the field.  It is based on proven methods of using the latest software and equipment.

Each participant will receive a free evaluation copy of ArcPad tm and a free dataset for use in the seminar.  If you have a consumer grade GPS unit, feel free to bring it to class.

1:00 pm Timber Cruise Input using Pocket PCs
2:00 pm Using Topographic software for pre-planning and navigation
3:00 pm Break
3:15 pm Using GPS Planning Software to maximize GPS efficiency
3:30 pm Equipment Analysis: Laser rangefinders, Relaskop®, & RD 1000
4:30 pm Digital Cameras in Forestry. Capturing Pictures at Plots and for reports
5:00 pm Adjourn

Second Day
8:00 am Field Session with GPS traverse, navigating to plot locations, Timber Cruising exercise
Noon Lunch and return to office
1:00 pm Analyzing and merging GPS and GIS data
1:30 pm Creating an ArcPad project within ArcGIS
2:00 pm How to convert consumer GPS data to ArcGIS
2:30 pm Downloading timber cruise data from a Pocket PC to Desktop Timber Cruise Software.
3:00 pm Break
3:15 pm Using GPS offsets to complete a traverse and to increase GPS efficiency.
4:30 pm What’s new for the Future
