No post-processing is needed

TDS SOLO Office is a Windows-based companion product to SOLO Field, with a user interface and functions similar to what you see on the data collector. In addition to the functionality offered in SOLO Field, SOLO Office lets you:

• Extract SHP files

• Prepare images

• Create custom coordinate systems

• Print, plot and customize the output of your data with an Advanced

• ASCII Output Wizard

SOLO Office also provides several key project management features including project packaging, batch file transfer and project merging.

The SHP File Extraction routine allows you to open your large ESRI SHP Files in SOLO Office, and then extract only the region that you wish to take into the field. The resulting SHP File can than be downloaded into your field data collector for use as a basemap. Selected areas can also be saved and applied to additional layers to ensure consistency in your base maps.

You can also select which attributes in the associated database file will be downloaded, saving significant amounts of memory in your field data collector.

SOLO Office's Image Preparation routine provides three main functions; image clipping, image compression and geo-referencing. Similar to the SHP File Extraction routine, the Image Preparation routine lets you specify a particular region of an existing image that you would like to take into the field. The selected region will be clipped from the original image and stored in TDS' SIF format for use with SOLO Field.
The Image Preparation routine will also let you establish geo-reference information for scanned in images. Just enter the pixel dimensions and the coordinates of the upper left pixel.
If the original image you are using is a TIFF file, the image will also be compressed during the conversion to the SIF format. Depending upon the resolution and characteristics of the original image, a compression ratio of 9-to-1 or better can be achieved.
